Washington, DC native Linda Whiting, affectionately known as “Ms. Lynn”, is a sassy, soulful songstress, actress and songwriter who is finally coming into her own. She has a creative spirit and has always had a passion for the arts.
Linda comes from a family of musicians, singers, and songwriters and has been singing since her early youth with her first vocal lessons taking place on her grandmother’s front porch as well as her home church, the historic Macedonia Baptist Church in SE Washington DC. Her singing style is eclectic and encompasses R&B, Neo-Soul, Gospel and Jazz. Linda has performed for crowds large and small in various venues around the DMV and as far as Richmond VA. Her appearances/performances include the: Live at VoxWav Radio Show, Cheryl Woods "Impact The World" Radio Show, HRAP Inc. Silent Wine/Art Auction at the Anacostia Arts Center, Mid Atlantic 7th Annual Saviors Day at Mosque #4, EYSONU Benefit Concert at Harmony Hall. She is also the lead vocalist for The Decades Band and has performed at venues such at the Mayflower Hotel, the National Golf Club, and the Salamander Resort.
And it doesn't end there ... although her mother may be the only person who knows this, Linda has been writing poetry since she was about 12 years old. She is excited to finally focus her creativity and writing skills on bringing her own stories to life through song. Look forward to the release of her single "Inside Of Me" the prelude to the Epiphany EP in Fall 2018.
Linda had always enjoyed a good stage play. She sat many times watching and saying to herself “I can do that”. Her words finally came to fruition and her love for the performing arts rose to a new level when she was offered the role of “Roxie The Jazz Singer in her first ever stage play “The Do Drop In” . She performed for a packed audience at the Publick Playhouse in June 2014. The "acting bug" took hold and she immediately found an acting coach to help her hone in on this newfound gift. But she did not stop there.
Since then she has appeared in several stageplays to include: Deron Cloud's Fabulously 40 & Over and Wolf Pack Theatre Company's Nunsense and Memories & Legends Musicals. She has also appeared in several independent films (too many to name individually) and national television shows such as TV One's For My Man. Much of her filmwork can be found on Amazon Prime.
Ms. Lynn The Triple Threat
With only 7 days in a week and 24 hours in a day, Linda works a full-time job and loves spending quality time with her family. Yet, she still manages to maintain a very active singing, songwriting and acting career. To God Be The Glory!
