Washington, DC native Linda Whiting, affectionately known as “Ms. Lynn”, is an actress, songstress, and songwriter. Her voice is often described as soulful, mesmerizing and sultry. She has a gift for creativity and has always had a passion for the arts.

Music/Singing

Linda comes from a family of musicians, singers, and songwriters and has been singing since her early youth. Her first vocal lessons took place on her grandmother’s front porch on Howard Road in SE DC with her cousins as well as at her home church, the historic Macedonia Baptist Church on Stanton Road in SE DC.  Her singing style is eclectic and encompasses Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Neo-Soul, and Gospel.

In early 2014, Ms. Lynn formed the No Hid’n Agenda Band. From 2016 to 2018, she also performed with The Decades Band. In November 2022, she joined forces with the On Kee Jazz Band as their lead vocalist filling behind her dear friend, Gladys “Etta” Duren (RIP).

She has performed at venues around the DMV including the Carlyle Room, Montpelier Arts Center, Bowie Center for the Performing Arts, the Mayflower Hotel, the National Golf Club, the Salamander Resort, Kentlands Mansion, Patterson Mansion, and Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center just to name a few. On February 23, 2023, she had the pleasure of performing before inspirational speaker, author, life coach, and television personality, Iyanla Vanzant at John Hanson Middle School’s Black History Month event.

Thanks to local venue owners who have an appreciation for what Ms. Lynn brings to the stage, she performed on a recurring basis at Martinis White Plains, Middleton Hall Waldorf, Lucianna’s Brazilian Steakhouse in Waldorf and Everlasting Life Vegan Restaurant in Capital Heights MD. She also made special guest appearances on Partymode Live, In the City with Crystal TV Show, KaZarr Coleman’s Born for The Stage TV Show, Live at VoxWav Radio Show, Cheryl Woods "Impact The World" Radio Show, HRAP Inc. Silent Wine/Art Auction at the Anacostia Arts Center, Mid Atlantic 7th Annual Saviors Day at Mosque #4, and EYSONU Production’s Benefit Concert.

Songwriting

Although her mother may be the only one who knew it, Linda has been writing poetry since she was about 12 years old.  She finally used her creativity and writing skills to bring her own stories to life through song. In October 2018, she released of her 1st single "Inside Of Me" which highlights some of the struggles that many of us encounter before realizing that God created us with everything that we need. Inside of Me was nominated and earned her an honor as a 2019 DC Wammie Finalist.

In January 2020, she released “I Stopped Waitin” a song about going through the process of self-discovery and making a conscious decision to remove oneself from non-fruit bearing situations. And finally, in February 2020, she released “Daydreamin”, a song about yearning, yet waiting patiently for that perfect relationship to manifest itself.

Acting

Linda loves going to a good stage play.  On one occasion, she said to her mom “I ‘think’ I can do that”; to which her mom replied, “I ‘know’ you can”.  Her words finally came to fruition and her love for the performing arts rose to a new level when she was offered the role of “Roxie The Jazz Singer” in her first ever stage play “The Do Drop In” written by playwright, Roxanne Reid.  She performed for a packed audience at the Publick Playhouse in June 2014.  The "acting bug" took hold and she immediately found an acting coach to help her hone in on this newfound gift.  But she didn’t stop there.

Since then she has appeared in several stage plays to include: Deron Cloud's “Fabulously 40 & Over,” Wolf Pack Theatre Company's “Nunsense” and “Memories & Legends” musicals, Akiva McClam’s “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “Deep Cover: Let Your Light Shine in Dark Places”. She has also appeared in several independent films (too many to name individually) and national television shows such as TV One's For My Man.

In December 2020, Linda took yet another exciting step in my acting career by adding voiceover acting. Check out her demos here.
